5/16" glue on broadheads?
« on: December 10, 2011, 05:07:00 PM »
I'm about to order a set of arrows for my wife's bow. She's shooting around 35#, and so the doug fir arrows will be light in spine and weight, and need a 5/16" shaft. Looked around a bit, and it seems like the tried and true broadheads are all for 11/32 shafts.

Suggestions welcome - I'm sure there's plenty out there!

Zwickey has a 5/16 head and the Howard Hill head will be a good fit.

Woodsmans work good on 5/16 shafts

Zwickeys have the 5/16 model, but all of the 11/32 heads will work just fine on a 5/16 shaft. There will be a slight shoulder past the shaft but it doesn't hurt anything. I used 100 and 125 grain Magnus on my sons 5/16 arrows

I will second what Dnovo stated.  I shot 5/16 shafts for several years and found that the 11/32 heads worked great and actually give a much stronger head to shaft junction.  If you really want a 5/16 head, just grind about 1/8" off the back of the 11/32 ferrule and it will be 5/16.

Awesome! I gotta learn to search better. Looks like no worries at all for 'heads. That Tusker does look sweet - never came across those before, and I'll be talking to Braveheart about some arrows pretty soon. Thanks to all.
