Question for Michigan guys...
« on: July 17, 2007, 10:46:00 AM »
A group of fellas from our church are going to spend a week camping near the Huron and Manistee Forests the 3rd week of Oct.  I've checked the net, but haven't found much info on deer hunting.  I'm planning on taking my recurve and portable stand. Can any of you folks point me in the right direction or what to look for.  I'm used to hunting whitetails around beans, corn and oaks here in S. Indiana.  Would also be interested in some smallmouth or trout/salmon if possible.  Thanks for the help.

Hi Dave

You just covered about 976,043 acres of hunting land  :scared:
Last year I spent a long weekend around the Mesick area. Lots of deer in the area, plus you are close to the Tippy Dam which has great salmon fishing.
Best thing is to drive the open two tracks looking for deer crossings and activity. And there primary feed will be white oak acorns.

A bunch of us Tradgangers are suppose to put a hunt on further north around the City  Atlanta I believe the weekend of Oct 12-14th. You may want to try and hook up with us. It is a weekend earlier though.

             Good Luck Brent

PM me David, I can point you in a great direction  :)

I may be able to join you for a little trout fishing too... flyfishing is my "other" addiction  :D
