CONFUSED !
« on: December 13, 2011, 09:41:00 PM »
Ok,so I have a 45lb Savannah. I bring it to my local trad range, and the guys check it out ,try different arrows through it,adjust nock point brace height etc.. most of them conclude the 2016 is the way to go. So,I buy Gamegetter 500`s,equivalent to the 2016? I think... Anyway.. I start shooting them and I get alot of left to right movement at the back of the arrow during flight. I ask one of the guys to shoot the same arrow off my bow,and it flies well. So I have to assume it`s because I am new and my release is not that good yet. Or,,is it because he has a shorter draw length than me?  Anyway,,today..I ran into another guy I know there, who shoots 1916`s. I tried em out,and they fly like darts off my bow,,no wobble just straight! So,, I ask you..did I choose the wrong arrow? I am goin bonkers here.

im new here so i might not be right someone who knows or shoots same weight will be along soon good luck.

Maybe.  It does take some tinkering to find what arrows shoot best for YOU with YOUR bow.  Individual differences in release, and especially draw length, can make the same arrow out of the same bow shoot differently for different shooters.  Shoot what shoots good for ya.

My experience says that a 1916 will tune to your 45# bow better than a 2016.  I don't know your draw length but b44mag is correct in that you could still salvage the 2016s by trying heavier points.

Bottom line. It's what you see when you shoot your bow that counts.

With the 2016s, they don't fly well for you. But, the 1916s fly very well for you.

Sell the 2016s and go with the 1916s.

Try 145 or 160 grains on the 2016s. They shoot just fine out of my Kanati with 145 grains up front. 1916s would probably be better with 125 grains up front. Depends on your draw length.

My point exactly. They are probably too light. Your 2016s are plenty stiff for a 45# bow, so adding weight up front will weaken the spine and they may just work. The other guy who shot your bow probably drew longer than you do, so they flew okay for him.

2016s spine at about 63#, 1916s spine about 55#. If your draw is 28 inches, the 1916s would seem to be the better fit. That's what your shooting is showing you.  Might get the 2016s to work with a heavier point, as has already been suggested.

The guy who shot them has a shorter draw than I do..so I am still confused.

Bottom line is what it does for you. If the 2016s shoot stiff weaken them with a heavier tip.
Otherwise shoot the 1916s.
