Has anyone shot Big Jim's Thunderchild

I have been looking for a really short bow that will handle my 30in draw. His Thunderchild looks a lot like a Shrew but does it shoot like one.

It looks to be very well made like all his other bows so any input would be appreciated.

Do a search, you will find many of us who are TC aficianados. I used mine this season, and it is "The One". My draw is 28", but Jim's is 30 inches or more, and he says he has no problems. I'm shooting a 56" TC; it is smooth and hard hitting, not to mention beautiful. I don't think you can go wrong if you want a bow that is short but can handle a longer draw length.
I have never even held a Shrew, but I have never seen a bad review of one. I'm guessing that Shrews and TCs are pretty comparable.
I expect that somewhere down the road, I will be ordering another bow from Big Jim; his work is as good as it gets.

Desert Ironwood. I talked the big guy into getting some of this exotic wood, even though it cost a bit more, but I'm glad I did. To me, I have never seen a bow more stunning than the one that Big Jim made for me.

Big Jim makes amazing bows that shoot and look great. I have shot them at Compton's and they are quick, quiet, and smooth. My draw is close to 29 +/- when I do what I am supposed to do. No problems at all. You can't argue with his success and the great reviews.    :D

My buddy Birdbow got one this season. He brought it with him for a hunt we did earlier in the season. I am a recurve guy but this bow I couldn't miss with. I took a shot from 40 yards and dropped in the center of the lungs on my Glendel buck.

I have one since October. Its a 58" TC and i draw 30" and have no issues at all. Smooth, fast and quiet.
And the servic is as good as it gets!

Got mine this fall and it hasn't let me down. Quiet and smooth. Great quality. 56" handle's my 29"+ draw length fine, but if I drew 30" or over and shot split finger I would consider the 58". I had a shrew classic hunter that was 56" as well, and I don't think they shot very similarly. Different designs. Both great bows. For nearly the same poundage, I would say the thunderchild was a touch faster and the shrew handled the longer draw a.touch better. Neither stacked, but I had a bit less finger pinch on The shrew ch. That being said, I have had no problem with the shootability of the thunderchild at my draw.

I had one and liked it a lot. It was a 54"er. The bow shot well. I just didn't shoot well with it. Excellent craftsmanship and beautiful woods.

The bow just didn't "fit" me. This is certainly not a knock on the bows. You just have some bows you shoot well and some you don't. If you get one and it doesn't work out well for you it won't be hard at all to get your money back here on the classifieds.

I have a 56" ... 49#@28 TC , it is a mighty fine bow. I have a 28" draw but my hunting partner has a 30" draw and he shoots my TC just fine with a bit of added zip for his longer draw.

Mine is Bacote and the 2pc T/D is great for traveling, just throw it in your suitcase. I have taken hogs, deer, and turkeys with mine and the performance is great.

I have a 56 " thunderchild and a long draw 31 " and it handles that just fine and is a great shooter . Fit and finish is tops and Jim is a great guy to deal with and stands behind his bows. I say go for it , you won't be sorry and go for the beaver tail grip

Are you shooting split finger or three under? I'd love to shoot a 58" and see if there is any difference. Love my 56"er, though.

Oh, and I agree about the beavertail. He does a great job with it.
