For you leather crafters
« on: December 21, 2011, 11:22:00 AM »
I recently got a couple sides of leather to make a couple quivers for some youth bows I'm making. Needless to say, I have a lot left over. Anyone have any cool ideas for some trad based leather projects? Pics are worth 1000 words.   :)
Why do they call it common sense when it is so rare?

Possibles bag, bino bag, hawk sheath with strap, custom cell holster, knapping pads, journal cover. I made some custom fit leather sheaths for my Nicholsen rasps and hoof rasp.

I am not sure if I should post a picture but a leather covered scout canteen is a great looking way to  cart water around the woods or 3d.  Possibles(mountain man)or pilgrem bags(medieval) are pretty traditional for those who need to carry more than just a bow and arrow.

These are 2 side quivers I made from scrap leather for my friend Marie("calendergirl" on PA) and her daughters. The tube quiver was for Julis Rose, Marie's youngest. JR is a vegetarian and didn't want any amnimal products in her quiver so I did a collage with pics from old PA Magazines.

Here's a photo of a small leather clutch I made to hold little archery doodads in.

A few things I have been working on using leather...

Armguard with sheath IN PROGRESS(turkey feather/track pattern)

Back Quiver

Matching Arm Guard

Pocket Quiver Gift For Friend

Hope these pics gave you a start for ideas! Many of these projects were TradGang inspired in one way or another. Feel free to PM with questions...my screw ups may save you time and energy...i.e. never attempt to recreate turkey breast feathers in a carving project...talk about death by a 1000 cuts!
