Wow here it is in Maine December 22nd almost 50 degree's outside and what a fun time of the year to take a judo and head for the swamp, the swamp is covered by about 4 inches of ice and the Beavers have got all there work done for the winter, things take a whole new look about them, i have been hauling Apple Pumice for my Compost Piles and the Deer are hitting it hard and i hope to have some pics to show soon

I missed a doe at 23 steps this evening but after she ran off unscathed, I put a Hexhead blunt directly in a stump in the exact spot she was standing!! I will just have to face the fact that I am a stump hunter and be alright with it. I have more fun with stumps anyway, dont have to clean them!!

I was out on Friday (23rd) for a quick tour of new areas looking for deer sign and skwirls. Shot at least 50 arrows and was having a great time. Fortunately I was missing the spots that turned out to be rocks. 2" of snow made everything pretty and enjoyable.

In my personal experience, stumps are a little slower than a wound up whitetail at jumping the string; but only by a little bit ;-)

I went out at 7:00 AM this morning and sat in a tree. After a short while and not seeing any deer, I got out my rabbit distress mouth call and commenced to mimic the sounds of a cottontail rabbit being attacked, but was unable to fool any hungry predators this time. I decided to take a shot at a distant small, dark, brushy spot with a Judo point but I missed it by a couple of inches too low. After climbing down out of my stand I retrieved my arrow and done some scouting and shot some corn cobs in the field. Ended up hitting and obliterating more corn cobs than I missed, including the last two I shot at. Corn cobs make great Judo targets! Didn't see any deer but got some good shooting practice plus saw some good deer sign to give me more confidence for my next outing.

Well, I got out of bed and went out stump shooting this morning. It was a great morning to be in the woods. I used a Don Dow longbow that I purchased last year and only had shot one arrow with it prior to this morning. Killed quite a few of dead stumps with it! I guess my resolution for the New Year is/was to learn to shoot a longbow. So, I am off to a good start! Pics to follow after visiting family.

5 of us got together last Sunday and shot outside 3d, just north/other side of Bangor. Not a regular shoot. It was 11deg to 14deg. We had a blast.
Maybe if we don't get a lot of snow we may do it again.
