and want to mentor a newbie sometime in 2012 and help him build a bow? I would love to learn the process and build myself a bow. I know this is a huge favor to ask but we could work something out to benifit each other im sure, and i would be extremely greatful.
If it something you would be willing to do PM me please
thanks in advance

Oh wood or glass bows would be the only other question I think you need to answer.

i am in St. Marys, AK right now, but will be moved to Anchorage in the next 2 weeks. and i dont mind driving.
As far as glass or wood bows, i really have no preferance. I would love to learn them all eventually, so any place to start is a good place to start for me
Happy New Years

There are a couple of guys who do self bows in the area too. One I know in particular used to offer a self bow building class. Check into cook inlet archers, its a really good local club that holds monthly 3d shoots in the winter.

You could try and contact the Traditional Archers of Alaska:
http://www.traditionalarchersofalaska.com/index.html
I don't know how active they are. I have been thinking about joining them, and volunteering to take over the maintenance of their website as it is a bit out of date. I might also want to try and carve out my own selfbow!

Cook inlet shoots are the third Sunday of the month. Great time and good people.
