That's what I do. Most of my upper stuff is plaid, but I do break out the Cabela's Wooltimate stuff if it's cold and windy. I've still got a couple pair of camo bibs that are in pretty decent shape, so I'm not ready to scrap them just for the sake of wearing non-camo. I love bibs because the keep the wind from howling up my back. I do have an old pair of brown and black sort of camo wool bibs, but they don't have zippers down the legs, so my boots have to come off to get them on. Otherwise I'd probably wear them more. [/b]
I completely understand what your saying, and it makes sense. The clothes i am talking about selling, I do not ever wear because it does not work well when layering or i dont like it for some reason. There are several peices i wouldnt get rid of like my Sitka vest that i really like and got on clearance at Sportsmans Warehouse for $30. So basically i am just replaceing clothing before next fall as i dont have any hunting pants because my waterproof pants ripped to shreds in some super thick willows last fall moose hunting. So i figured while i need to get stuff anyway I may as well get rid of the stuff i dont use and get wool that i want instead of the camo stuff out there.

I am in the same boat. I have a lot of camo and some with "scent control". I am not going to give it away because it's not trad. Hunting doesn't need to be a fashion show whether you think you should be dressing like Bill Jordan or Fred Bear. I have never owned plaid flannel shirts or wool sweaters until this year but I gotta say that I think the plaid is pretty cool and I love my recently acquired Asbell wool plaid pullover. I also have a pair of Dickies brown work pants that are about five years old now and I would recommend them too.

Compleatly trad.  rabbit skin lion cloth.
You can hop but you can't hide.
If it was not for rabbits I would never get a buck.

If you go to Old Navy they have a rack of odd size(not the size kids buy-36l36 w) cargo pants in all colors for $8.00 especially at the end of the season. Kohls and even better Goodwill has all kinds of cargo pants and wool semi dress pants cheep.

Had a nice pair of Cabela's wool pants but the friggers didn't even last one season before I had a hole in the butt.  For now, the pants are mil-surp but my gear is pretty wooly other than that.

Long live the longhunter shirt!

Filson double tin pants re tough as heck and last forever but they would be too noisy for most hunting.

I have the legacy wool shirt and pants from Cabela's and they have  held up pretty well. But for years I have also used the military surplus wool pants or something that I found at the good will store. For hunting in Alaska I would definitely go with wool of some kind. That is all I have worn for 30 years.

usually Levis and some sort of heavy flannel/cotton upper...

fortunately, where i live, and often hunt, we don't have the wet, cold environment as does the northeast or Midwest.
i was told by a sales person, when purchasing an out-of-date newpaper that it was out-of-date...

i told her "i've been told i'm out-of-date, too"...

does that mean i'm up-to-date?

I use plaids, solids, and camo, made from wool, fleece, and cotton... (nothing wrong with wearing out the clothes you have).

As long as I don't look like I just stepped out of a catalogue, I'm fine.

I own a pile of hunting/bush clothes... come to think of it, that's pretty well the only clothes I own, LOL!

Wool is where it's at. Early season day hunts I use some cotton camo still, but I'm building up my plaids and earth-tone clothes, that way I don't feel like a "commando" if I happen to stop somewhere on my way home...

In my opinion, anything we wear hunting to conceal us or to blend in is "camo".  To camoflage is the art of blending in so as not to be detected...whether it is commercial camo, plaid, earth tones, jeans...whatever...if it works, I see no reason to discard it because it is not considered "trad".  I wear both plaid and commercial..and feel comfortable with both....I like my ASAT pants because they are soft, and have many large pockets I can cram stuff in...and I also love my Asbell wool pullover...and wear them both together...

Wear what you like because it works, not because of some kind of ideal or image you think you have to convey.....

I still have some camo that I wear, might as well wear it its paid for. But the latter part of the season when it got cold I wore very little traditional camo. I purchased an Asbell pullover (LOVED it!!!) and I would wear polyester base layer, duo-fold thermals, and if really cold a mock turtle neck then the pullover. Late in the season I found a really good deal on a pair of Columbia wool pants for $49 at Bass Pro on clearance and got to wear them a few times and man are they warm!!!! They are a camo pattern but not "commercial" pattern. Just olive green and dark brown stripes. Will be buying more wool over the summer for use next season. Figure I might find some deals online post season.
