ghillie backing
«

Thinking about rebuilding my ghillie suit this winter, and want to use the decoy bag kind of mesh for a base. That is, until I saw the price on the decoy bags for the amount of material in them. Does anyone know if that material is available at one of the chain fabric stores (JoAnns, or Hancock Fabrics)?
Thanks, Kevin

get netting like for military camo covers, or hamock and use shoegoo and fishing line to tie it to jacket/pants. Then add your burlap or material to it. Worked in scout/sniper school

Guess I'm lucky. I married into a Commercial Fishing/Shrimping family. They have left over , light weight webbing, in black and green and clear. I just have to catch 'em before they throw it away. Sometimes I have to sew a couple peices together to get a large enough peice to use. But heck the price is right!

joanns, decorative fish netting- find it with the bags of seashells and stuff..... like 6 or 8.00 per bag. get 2 bags (front and back of a pull over type shirt) unless your going to just stich it in to clothes then shoegoe and tie it in.
ghillies the way to go!

Google "Dive mesh". Its out there. Finding useable colors might be the hard part.

Thanks. My current ghillie is based on a surplus fishnet, with squares around 1" to 3/4". That works good, but tends to hang up on buttons, buckles, etc. I'm hoping to get enough to make a piece to hang from the trees/deadfalls I set up in. There is nothing like having a similar material behind you to make you melt away from sight.

Googled dive mesh, and found a link to some that's in black, 50" wide, and only 8$ a yard. Guess I'll be placing an order!

I used the military netting for the base for my gillie, made it poncho style, works great
