Predator call?

I'm looking for another excuse to take my recurve out and am going to try predator hunting...yotes.  What call/s would y'all recommend I purchase.

(Note: I'm no good at the pursed lip rabbit squeek)

get a mouse sqweaker, i think some guys just buy a dog toy with a sqweaker and take it out, im also gonna do some predator hunting, good luck.

I picked up a Primos Alfa Dog.. Took it out last Sunday morning, made four sets, called in two dogs, shot one. I cheated  and used a .204, but am looking to move to using the Kodiak.. It seemed to work great to bring them in within gun range but will have to work on something to get them within bow range..
One nice thing about it is the remote is good for 100 yards plus, so it opens up a lot of options.

I have a Fox Pro, it works like a charm.  Like Earl I cheat and use a .223.

Rabbit call . Rabbit call.rabbit call. Fox call only distres if you donot know how to do the barks and howls. Coyote howler only puppy yips if you do not know how to do howls and barks ect.Once they are getting close use lip sqeeks or or rodent sqeeker. A dog sqeeky toy works good. A good e caller and decoy will help out lots.Its realy not that hard. Did I say rabbit call.?  Carefull you might not hunt any thing els.

Yes, rabbit call.
If your area has a lot of jackrabbits, get a jackrabbit call.
If your area has a lot of cottontails, get a cottontail call.
As far as brand, they'll all work some of the time, none of them will work all of the time.
A squeeker is good to have, too. I've hunted with a couple guys who just used a rubber duck toy with a squeeky in it.

Fox pro here as well, nice to have them smart buggers not focused your location.

A rabbit call is the way to go but for sure get a squeeker too, sometimes that's what you need to get them in the final few yards.

Any distress call works well, fawn bleats work real well. I personally like using my natural voice or a hand call but that's that going primitive coming out there also.

I was wanting the Foxpro, but all they had on hand was the Alpha Dog. It works so will stay with that for now

Never killed one with a bow, but I've killed truckloads with my. 204.

I use a diaphragm type turkey call. I can make sounds like a rabbit, I can howl, and most importantly...from now until mid march....I can make sounds like a wounded pup. This time of year that drives them nuts.

E-callers are great, but save a couple hundred dollars and buy a turkey mouth call. They are just too versatile to ignore.

This time of year coyote howls work well. If you don't know what the different calls mean I suggest you buy Randy Anderson's "Mastering the Art" DVD. Comes with two calls and has great info.

As for decoy. All I have used for a decoy is tie a turkey feather on a branch, using fishing line. Works great on bobcats, haven't tried it on coyotes. Good luck!

A white anything tied to a branch or fence wire so it can blow and flip in the breeze works great....by "anything" I mean something like a feather or piece of a plastic walmart bag. Feathers work cause they flicker like a spinner bait blade.

Like in decoy dog ? Tried to get my ausie to do it but he's to agresive and just charges right in to fight.

Ditto on the Haydel government hunter call.  It has a built in squeaker and a really raspy sound.  It won't freeze up in cold weather either.

For a decoy tie some feathers on a thread to bushes or trees where you want them focusing. I really don't think you can shoot a yote with a bow unless you have a distraction. Where I hunted them they will always get down wind of the sound before coming in. Depends on how hard they are hassled where you hunt.

I've owned 2 FoxPro's. excellent call if the cost is justified for you, other wise get a jack or cottontail call what ever is plentiful in your neck of the woods and a squeaker.

The breeding season's coming. Although I think the trusty rabbit in distress is a good choice, come February I believe a howler is a smart choice in the toolbox.

Illegal in most states but get a rabbit, put a cat collar on it, pound a stake and tie 25' of line to it. I've shot at yotes with a gun standing up where they could see me and once they see that rabbit you will loose the rabbit if you can't shoot.
