what size aluminum for footing?

I am looking to foot some shafts that have an OD of .281 (Gold Tip Kinetic .200)

I have a very limited supply of aluminum shafts laying around to test. Of what I have, the 2117's proves to be a close fit, but wondering if there is a size that would be slightly tighter.
Is it preferably to have a slight amount of space for glue room?

try a 2016.  its inside diameter should be .2805  would be a real tight fit.

2016 won't fit.Your 2117 should be app .294 ID.The closest I know is 2013.I was able to get them on a .284 shaft but they were very tight.I'm sure they'd work.They are thinner walled than some but have held up well through several months of shooting.They would be the closest.

You don't need much space for glue,very little.If you used Gorilla glue,you could use the 2117.It would expand to fill the gap.Thicker wall too.

Gorilla Glue works great for gluing footings. It does fill in the gaps very well, as was stated.

Oldskool, that chart doesn't list aluminum ID's just sizes to fit common carbon. Unfortunately, my shafts aren't common size.

Jim, if you can't find a tighter fit, would it work to wrap the area to be footed with aluminum foil first? That way you could adjust the thickness to what you need. Just an idea.

After thinking about it,and the weights you shoot,I would go with the 2117 and Gorilla glue over the 2013's because of wall thickness.

I don't think that wall thickness would make a difference. All, I need is something to keep the insert from coming out sideways. These arrows are really tough, but I am using the hidden brass insert to increase weight up front and they tend to break sidewase when they brake. Just a little help would be all that was necessary.

and 2016's are .2805, closest I have on my chart.

I have footed the Kenetic 300's but have not found a shaft that foots the .200 exactly.
The best Find is a brass tube from the hardware store. That fits exact on the .200 but is a bit thicker wall then the alu shafts but works great.

The Fit must be tight, I do not like to have any play at all!. I use 24 hour epoxy for my footings.

We have experimented with loads of arrows as my buddys and I foot all our arrows, have done for years. Especially with the HIT as you described, the new Goldtip inserts are very weak! So i also use the HIT inserts.

if you have to build up to make up room for a slightly loose footing the best thing to use is masking tape, rolled on tight. but it a bit finicky to get right.
