Hoot's Bows, recurve or longbow?
« on: January 21, 2012, 02:35:00 PM »
Handled and shot a Hoots recurve a few weeks ago with the stippled grip and a thumbrest. Fit my hand like it was made for it. I'm looking at ordering a 52 " recurve or 56 " longbow, probably a takedown. Any suggestions from Hoots owners? Draw is 27 or so. I have a Thunderchild and Shrew in 54 " and like short bows.

I would get the recurve.  I should have one fairly soon, its on the "Hoots" bench.

Both great choices. I had an Aneewakee Recurve made by Hoots and it was a dandy shooting bow. My buddy bought a Hoots longbow this year and shoots it extremely well. Well made, great shooting bows.

I have the 54 inch recurve and it is unbelievably accurate.  IT is my favorite recurve bow.  My Toelke Whip is my favorite longbow.

Ive only shot the recurve, a 54" 51.5 @ 28,  and it was very fast.  Not sure of the numbers,  but was definitely one of the fastest bows ive shot to date.

I have a 52" recurve and a 60" longbow and can't complain about either one. Getting a 2pc would be a good idea for adding mass weight to the shorter bows, in my opinion, thats next on my list. I have a 27 1/2" draw and struggle a tad bit more with my 52" than the longer Hoots I have had, but thats where you learn to shoot at your best shot after shot. The 52" is a 45#er but I have never chronoed it, I will see if the batteries are good in the chrono and give you some numbers later. My suggestion 56" 2pc phenolic handled recurve-#48! Oh thats what I want!

I am just a speed freak (yes, I know speed does not equal accuracy or kills) but speedy bows are a passion of mine.

So, anymore speed info would be appreciated.
