Carbon arrow help

I am shooting a longbow that is 48lbs @ my 27" draw I need arrows and would like to have some carbons. I want to shoot my 175gr broad heads. I think Gold tip 3555's will work but how long to have them cut is the question. I don't think they will be stiff enough at full length for the heavy broad head and I have no way to cut carbon shafting. Tell me what you think.

pretty much depends on how far your shelf is cut in.

Do a search for cutting carbon shafts. You can do it. If you cut them your self it can really aid in your tuning.

I'm shooting 3555's 29" with 100 gr brass insert and 200gr field point. 555gr total from my Mad Dog longbow pulling 51 lbs @ 28.5. If your shooting stock inserts I wouldn't cut the shafts yet. You can always build out the side plate if your a little weak. You can't add back what you cut off. I cut shafts with a tile saw and an abrasive blade. A dremel mounted to a board will work too.

Howdy neighbor, I live in the Tri-cities area of East Tennessee. A 29 inch GT 3555 trad arrow bareshaft tunes best from my 50# Bear Montana at my 28 inch draw with 175-200 grain points and a standard aluminum insert. So many variables, I would start full length and bareshaft tune, cutting a 1/4-1/2 inch at a time. I bet you can find a China knock-off of a Dremel tool at Harbor Freight or Northern Tool for 20 bucks or less.

Tom , Stu's calculator shows that 30 in. 3555's with a 175 gr. point shpuld be good without any additional weight.
