I live 8 hrs. east of the center of Canada. What would be the nearest state with good hog hunting? How far south do I have to go?

wow. I have no idea on that one. My first guess would be a looooong ways though. Might wanna look at flying to Florida or Texas and booking a hunt thru there but thats just a guess.

You might be the closest to Ray Hammond in South Carolina.
Nothing very close. Bad for you, but good for the guys in the northern states.
I like to hunt them, but wouldn't want them in my backyard.

There are some fenced opations in MI, PA, and New York. Or, as already stated fly to Florida,GA, or TX.Good luck.

You don't have to travel far if you live near Toronto! "Big Tusks" is about two hours by car. I'm sure they have a web site. Never hunted there personally but I know they have been around for a long time.
There is also a private island with monster hogs in Georgian Bay which is run by a private club.

bear in mind that trad gang is a strong proponent of "fair chase".  we don't agree with or talk about "enclosure hunts".  fenced hunt topics will get removed.  please don't go there.  word up.

unfortunately, the rampant spread of feral pigs is already encroaching as far north as some of the states bordering canada.  if the usa doesn't address this, our northern brothers will have hogs in their back yards within 20 years, or less.  this will mostly be a bad thing.

i love hog hunting.  i think it's about the most fun and good eatin' a trad bowhunter can enjoy.  but this is an invasive species that rapidly decimates crops and fertile land = economic disaster.

great post !! our deer hunting has rapidly gone down hill with the population of pigs climbing. I would alot rather have no pigs and the deer hunting back that we had before they became so prevelant

We have had lots of free ranging Hogs in California for a very long time and lots of deer and turkeys too. There can be many reasons for deer decline in many areas where there are no hogs. To blame the decline of a deer population on the presence of hogs may well be expeditious and overly simplistic; sometimes the truth can be difficult to uncover.

when the hogs eat all/most of the mast that hits the ground and eat every other food source available,  the deer WILL move.. that is what we have watched happen in our hunting area..

Dave, you are probably correct.

thanks, Bjorn not trying to argue, but the hogs have moved in to a lease I am in in such numbers it has really affected our deer hunting, I saw over 60 one afternoon out of a stand, and they are like a dang vacume machine sucking up anything and everything edible. It is good for pig huntin, but really affected our deer huntin, i just changed up and started stalkin pigs, not alot of deer meat in the freezer though.. the higher areas around our lease have better numbers of deer than normal I assume, due to this...

Wow..... I know they are a scurge like Asian carp. They do have enough wandering Manitoba that the D&R there put them in their regs. You can shoot them as long as you have a big game license. But the numbers are still low and almost entirely
Nocturnal .
Ontario is a bigass Province. I'm 6 hrs into Ontario from the
West border and still another 17 or 18 to Toronto .
Got a pm from Ray Hammond, so will be looking into that.
Thanks guys.
