Another great opportunity, thanks to Trad Gang
« on: July 22, 2007, 12:57:00 PM »
Man, here I am pondering over this upcoming Caribou trip and now I'm getting anxious. Just the thought of getting to share an opportunity like this with my good friend and neighbor Ray "Hollywood" Hammond. Also getting to meet new folks, whom I have never met but have read their posts here on Trad Gang for the past years. Just think it was only a few years back while I was living in Colorado that a trip like this would be planned and you could only ask the folks that you knew and hunted with locally. Now I get to share this hunt with Bob "movie star" Walker, Donnie Rowan, and Mike Weatherford all because of Trad Gang. My hat goes off to Trad Gang and a GENTLEMAN nicknamed "Tarz" that followed his heart and dream. Thanks Terry for making this a dream come true.

My sentimets also CJ. I have enjoyed being a part of this site for a few years now and made a lot of good friends that I have never met in person. I have learned a lot from the people here. Folks like you, Ray, Frank (stickshooter), shell, vermonster, Doug Campbell, Terry, littlefeather, and numerous other Trad gangers have made my life much better and helped me through the difficult time of loosing a spouse to cancer. I can never repay the numerous generosities shown to me here, but I will strive too help others as I have been helped. And I will forever gratedful for my brother Danny Rowan for bringing me back to trad archery and introducing me to this site. This is the greatest family ever.

And thank you CJ for this great opprotunity to hunt Caribou. A hunt I could have never dreamed of. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the gang going and sharing a hunt camp with you guys. May God bless our trip and keep us safe.

Nakohe,

Don't matter if you forget sumpin. What does JC's tag line say? Something about "just being there was good enough" as a quote of "Charlie-the-master-drag-it-out-story-teller" who keeps us rivited to our computers waiting?   :saywhat:

You guys are going to have the time of your life!  I've been involved with a few hunts with other Trad Gangers, and there is just nothing better than sharing time with others whose interests match so close with mine.

I think it is more than just the bows without wheels that draw us to this aspect of archery.  There is something deeper within the make up of people who hang out here that is kind of unique.  I really can't put a finger on it, but something about doing things the hard way, no short cuts, humility, and geniune caring about each other that the Trad Gangers I have met seem to share.  That is the kind of thing I see in the people I have met that really appeals to me.  The type of bow they shoot is kind of secondary.

To be able to share a camp like you fellows are about to do will burn deep in your life memory banks and certainly will be one to treasure.  Wish I could share with you too, but sure am looking forward to hearing about it from you.  Have a great trip!

I found an extra set of dakota long bow limbs that I think will even shoot the same arrow's as my arrapaho recurve limbs,so i dont have to tote an extra bow around. Now I need to make up a few more arrows stretch a couple strings for new limbs.Pack a bunch of gear and wait for nakohe to show up.CAN'T WAIT  :bigsmyl:

Ho'Nehe Jeff, well in exactly 30 days we head north. Ray Hammond, Tim Lawrence an old friend from Colorado and myself will leave out the afternoon/evening on Aug 27. We hook up with the rest in Nashville and then its alot of driving till we get to northern Quebec. From there we hop on a plane and fly into camp and hunt for a week.

Mike, I'll be there as fast as I can. Those dakota limbs will work just fine. All I gotta do now is sharpen a couple of knives and finish packing.
