« on: February 13, 2012, 10:36:00 AM »

My set up is a B-W pch 56" 56@28 my draw is 25" I shoot around 45-46 pds.I baer shaft and paper shot fletched arrows of differant size.1916,2016,2114'2213,and 2117 all between 26-28in.all with 150gr tip. The 2114 at 27.5in shot bullot holes in paper fletched at 20feet and baershaft groups rite with fletched arrows to 15-18yards i can smoke a turkey target out to 22-24yard.nothing else shoots this good.should be to stiff. so why this shaft?

That sounds right at your draw and weight the 2213's and 2117's would definately be to stiff.Every bow ,arrow and shooter is differant.Thats why we experiment ,welcome to Trad Archery !LOL.

Sometimes a bow just likes a very stiff arrow. My 37# recurve is like that. It shouldn't really shoot the 2212 aluminum arrow I use, but she does and I don't question it.

Because your bow is cut 3/16th past center it needs a stiffer spine. I have a Jess Stewart bow cut past center that takes 2312 cut to 27" that I shoot out of a 51# bow.should be too stiff but fly great.

I know this may sound crazy, but a 2114 has shot good out of almost any bow I have shot it through. It just must be a good fit for most trad bows. But other than that  :dunno:

2114 is one of my favorite shafts. It spines a bit heavier than a 2016 but a little lighter, and with that 150gr tip it comes right in

Black Widow bows use a lot of preload and always, in my experience, require a lot of spine.  I helped a buddy set up a Widow recurve that was around 55lbs of draw weight.  He ended up needing over 90lbs of spine to get decent arrow flight.

My 44# PTF likes 2117s.  I thought they would be way too stiff but bare shaft tuning proved they work.  I agree that it may in part be due to the riser cut past center.
