shooting again after shoulder surgery's.
« on: July 23, 2007, 08:15:00 PM »
It sure is great to be able to shoot again. After two shoulder surgery's and 6 months recovery'I went outside and shot a few arrows tonight! It was with a 43 # longbow and while the form wasn't very good ,it felt great just to watch the arrows fly.I am holping to be ready for our season opener. BOB

Congrats.  Take it slow and continue the rehab.  We still have a couple months before the season starts.  I also know how you feel, twice.

Good Luck

I was lucky enough not to need surgery but the Dr. made me promise to lay off for 2 months, I'm 2 weeks in and I miss it so much I can't stand it.

I am finishing up my fourth month of therapy and should be returning to work shortly. Now it is just a matter of building up the strength. I am going to denton hill this weekend and looking for a slightly stronger longbow as the one I am shooting is borrowed. Hang in there SHAWN.It sounds like you should be set for hunting season.  BOB

I have been in a similiar boat. It has taken me a couple of years to work up to a 42lb draw. It may not need to be said here but (just a reminder) the more I focus on proper form the easier it is on my shoulder and the more shooting I can do with out any pain.

Glad to hear you are back shooting again Bob, that's great

I'm still trying to work my way back from a Subacromial Decompression Surgery I had in Feb. as well. I'm not to where you are yet though. I can pull a 45# bow a few times but I can feel it later on. I kinda slacked off on my home rehab exercises a bit which hasn't helped any, but getting back in the routine and working with a 35# bow a little right now.

Wish you all the best for a full recovery   :D  .
