Legendstick Longbow - Peter O. Stecher?
« on: February 20, 2012, 07:32:00 PM »
I have a Hill quiver made by him and it is great quality. Has anyone shot his longbows, they look great and appear to be made in the Hill style. Was he a John Schulz student?

What do you think of them, how do they shoot and do they look as nice in person as they do in pictures?

Thanks
Gil

Gil, they are not built by Peter they are made by another fellow. From what I have been told no that person did not learn from John Schulz. The only people I know of who learned from John Schulz are Pete George, Del Allen, David Miller, Steve Childers and Daryle Forslund.

I know the LegendStick longbow with white glass was made by Craig Ekin at Hill Archery.

The LegendStick longbow is promoted under a new brand: Styrian Archery from Austria (Straight Hill-style LBs and accessories).
As they are not sponsors here, I won`t post any links, etc. on here....
Pretty sure Peter will comment on this later.

Hello folks! Manfred Kaufmann of Graz, Austria, is the bowyer, he runs "Styrian Archery" an archery shop. I'm shooting Hill style longbows, made by John Schulz, Craig Ekin, Nate Steen, Pete George....I shot the Hill bow for 20 years and did a lot of research on old Hill bows. I wanted an Austrian bowyer to craft also that straight and nice bows over here. I discussed that with Craig Ekin and more Hill-folks, Manfred Kaufmann buys some bow building stuff from Howard Hill Archery, and we also reproduced the old Howard Hill Archery sewn quiver model. So, "LegendStick Equipment" is the brand, and "Styrian Archery" is the shop, the company. I advised Manfred to make proper and very slim Hill style bows. He also does a special tempering of the bamboo and we use just Tonkin bamboo. On the Styrian Archery website, we will also offer one of Craig Ekins models, and one of Steve Turays - so we want to support the Howard Hill bow afficinonados over here and also overseas. I always try to connect Hill folks and keep that bow type alive... :)
