My favorite is the one in the glass case at my local archery shop signed by both Fred Bear and Ted Nugent, I drool over it every time I'm there! My 58"  Grizzly has proven to be indestructible through the years of bowfishing. Purchased it new in 2001.

I always had a thing for early 70's Grizzly's.

I have a real nice one with green wood and brown glass with a perfect grip. I shoot it pretty well too.  :)

In my opinion, the 1962 Kodiak Special in 63"/66" was the best designed bow to come out of Grayling, with the 63"/66" 1961 Kodiak Special not far behind.
The 1959/60 Kodiak Special is also on the list of finest Bear bows.

Not fair Bob, You only get one choice   :readit:    :bigsmyl:

Couldnt agree more about the 59/60 Kodiak Specials.  I dont have much experience with the 61 and 62 KS's.

I bought a kmag from Big Jim too. 50th anniversary model 45 @ 28. I love it. The grip fits my hands like a glove, and even though its short, I shoot it better than any of my other bows. I was very suprised, going to be my go to hunting bow. So k mag it is for me.

Gotta throw in a vote for the Kodiak Special!

The 1962 40# 66" I got from Bob is the smoothest recurve I've ever put an arrow through.

The only thing I'd replace it with is another KS.  I really want a 1959-60 in 68-70", ideally closer to 50#.

I shot the Bear Ausable longbow at the shop. Very nice bow and like it better than the Samick Verna. I would like to try the modern Kodiak hunter replica made by bearpaw.

I have two Grayling made Bears (Kodiak Hunter and Kodiak Magnum) that date to the early 70's.  My relative inexperience prevents me from discerning which is better but I take great pleasure from shooting both.  As a kid growing up with weekly visits to the local sporting goods store I always admired and coveted the shinny richly colored Bears that hung in the racks.  In short, they have always been magical to me.

Really liked my 62 KS so I gave it away...shot my 64 Kodiak better than anything I have ever shot so I sold it...now I am stuck shooting an ordinary old 60 Kodiak (or two)(or three)...check out my old thread 'BH Series 1960 Kodiaks' to see pics...there are few other nice old Bears pictured there as well
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
