Youth bow help?
« on: March 05, 2012, 02:42:00 PM »
Looking for some input on bow for my daughter. She has been shooting with me for a couple years (compound) and she would constantly ask me to shoot (almost daily).  She started complaining about her shoulder, which is double jointed, and I could see as the weight was getting higher she had the strength but her shoulder would "pop out".  OK so here is my thought and question.  I have transitioned to traditional archery equipment and she is interested as well since that is what dad is shooting.  Looking at the way you draw compound vs recurve/longbow i am thinking that it will be easier on her shoulder to shoot trad bow.  I found bows like Maddog's and legends spike that I believe might work.

What are your thoughts?  Do you think this will work? Longbow vs recurve?

Thanks in advance
Mike

Get her a recurve from maddog they are easier on the draw.

And she has to learn to draw with her back muscles and less with her shoulder alone. A push pull style(push the bow up and away from the body with the bow arm, as she pulls the string back to anchor. The HH method)  may help with the shoulder issue.
