Anyone with a Dwyer Original. Please post your bow length and brace height. I would like to see the variations out there.

I'm sure that Dave or anyone in the Dwyer family will be happy to answer your question if you call them direct.  They are real nice folks to talk to!

Yup, they said 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 but I am looking for real world personal tune numbers from owners.

Looking forward to some guys input as I have a new original coming my way any day now.  tzolk, how's she shooting for you? and what arrows are you feeding her?  I'm thinking about going with wood for this bow.

Hey Mike. I just got my Original back from being refinished. Bought it used here and it had some minor glass damage and the finish was less then stellar. Dave fixed it right up! I am using GT 7595 31" with either a 200 gr point or 175. I am going to paper tune with those weights today- fletchings on. It came with a FF+ string but I have a SBD 8 strand string that has made all the difference for performance. Still need to get an Ultracam string from Rick Barbee  www.tradarcher.com.  . Do yourself a favor and look into these strings. Rick builds a great string. I have one of his on my Dwyer Dauntless.  So does Pierre for that matter. I think Rick can get you one quicker. The Dwyer string is great for a back-up. Mine is 57@28 and I'm pulling 30, so actual holding weight is 62-63lb. Ill take some pics and post a link here. You made a great choice, Mike!

Example- my Dauntless with the FF+ string was showing overspined arrows with my set up of 31" 7595 200gr points. I put Rick Barbees 9 strand Ultracam string on and my paper tune tests are now bullet holes.

Also Mike, I have been using Stu Millers calc to ballpark the arrows. So far so good. I put the stock FF+ string on yesterday and my shots were absolutely horrible. Just had one nock on the string at 1/2 inch, shoot 3 under. Shot through paper and was getting huge rips. Don't know if the arrow was sliding on the string but it clipped in there pretty good. I usually put 2 nocks on. I put the SBD string on afterwards with 2 nocks because the serving is thinner, top nock at 3/8. Set brace to 7 1/4 and was instantly shooting laser beams. Just need to fine tune it now. I was probably overspined with the stock string. Very happy now.

A Dwyer original from 64 inches and up likes brace height of 7 to 7 1/2.  I have found 7 to 7 1/8 to be the sweet spot.  Every bow is different, every shooter is as well, so you will have to play around with it.

Thanks for the info Todd.  I've been using SBD strings on all my bows, and yep they're all that.  What's your actual string length for the 66" bow?  I'll also look into the ultracam string.  I don't care as much about the speed, but the bows really are quieter with a SBD.
