Packable rain gear...your recommendation?

Need some GOOD rain gear for my backpack hunt....what you guys say?  I hate feeling moist....especially if I'm gonna be miles from my truck.

I love frog toggs for wet weather when I am fishing. That said I have never taken them hunting as I have gotten lucky and never had to hunt during a rain storm. They can be a little bulky so I could see using a long armgaurd like the one 3Rivers sells for using with a ghillie suit.

I have the Cabelas brand there lightes model. Its not that durable it will rip in down fall. But the way I see it get what ever is the smallest and lightest so you dont leave it in camp. Mine is always in my pack dont need it much but glad to have it when I do. You never know in the west they may become snow gear!

Best rain gear out there is the Chugach from Kuiu. Expensive, but worth it if you want super high quality that will keep you dry. The full suit is about $550! I think they are mostly out of stock now, but you can call and get on the waiting list.

I had to weigh the following factors when considering some rain gear last year:
1. How frequently will I use it?  Considering I don't really enjoy hunting in the rain, I'd like it just in case I'd NEED it.
2. Cost!  (This relates to the few times I expect to use it.)
3. I'd prefer a traditional camo pattern.
4. Is it somewhat packable?  I compromised here because I didn't like the "flimsiness" of the stuff that packs down to the size of a water bottle.

I settled on the Cabela's " Dry Plus Rain Suede Evolution " parka and pants, in the "brown Outfitter" camo, in a size larger than normal to fit over my wool or other insulating layer.  Both pieces stuff inside out into their own pockets and will fit in my pack fairly compactly.  I was able to get both the parka and pants for $140 on sale last fall.
