Looking to get a bow reduced in weight

I recently bought a bow and want to get it reduced in weight. Can anyone give me some advice on who to check with and about how long the turn around might be. Looking to drop about 5-6 pounds. Thanks Don.

You can contact the bowyer or others who do that kind of thing as part of their business. The Bow Hospital does it. I had a Great Northern done buy the bowyer and a Northern Mist done by the bowyer. Both of those were done in the winter when things were a bit slow and only took a few weeks to reduce and refinish. The bowyer may also have the history of the bow and can tell you if it's even possible! Hope this helps!!

I agree with Ron. I would check with the bowyer first and see if it is even possible to get weight removed from that particular bow.

The bow is a bighorn so I doubt I will be able get records. The glass lams are thicker than any other bow Ive got. I can shoot it now but may have a hard time when it gets cold. The bighorn is a northstar. Not sure who owned the company at that time.

Check with the Bow Hospital. The business is under new ownership but the gentleman that bought it I believe is a bowyer himself.

Why not just do it yourself? I have had good luck reducing bows simply by taking some of the width off, or trapping a limb that was not previously trapped.

If anyone could ruin a bow I could. I think I will leave it to the pro's. Thanks for all of the info guys.
