Still have my first - yes! It is a 45# Ash LB which I started in 1988. I made it with an English LB in mind - having had not much more advise as available from Saxton Pope's
Hunting with Bow and Arrow
.
It is long and heavy and would still shoot, but it will shake your teeth out

Don't know who has mine! Leaned it against my truck after an evening hunt and drove off and left it! When I realized what I'd done and drove back, it was gone. My bow, quiver, 5 arrows with broad heads, 1 judo, my armguard, and glove! Heck, it was even strung for some lucky.....person.

I do...guess I always will. Mine is osage 64" 55# and has one word written on it... "Joe". It was my way of saying thanks to a good friend Joe Mattingly, who helped inspire me to make a bow. I miss Joe and think about him while making every bow...

I have the first three I made. #1 is a Texas Ash bow 50# @ 28, #2 is "Slow Bow" a Jim Hamm inspired osage bow that can be crono'd with a sun dial and # 3 A 57" bend through the handle pony bow that I took my first trad deer with.
They are not going anyplace but up on the wall.

My first ever bow building attempt was in 1998. I ordered a hickory stave while living in VA. I made many errors but ended up with a functional bow 65" NTN and 55 pounds. It had about 3" of string follow! Bad tiller, poor finish, and looked pretty bad. A few years later I sanded the finish off the limbs and tried to steam some recurves into the tips. It didn't hold the curve and it made the tiller uneven.
I have failed with several BBOs and wanted something primitive to carry with my bamboo back quiver and river cane arrows. I took this bow down and shot it. It shot pretty well. I decided it needed some more work.
I cut a shallow shelf in the riser, refinished it, and laced on a new grip. The tiller is pretty uneven when first strung, but evens out after drawing it a few times. I decided to leave the tiller alone. She is beautiful and shoots much better closer to center.

Still have the first one I made.It is hickory from a stave and was pretty ugly but it shot an arrow. After a couple others I went back and rebuilt into something a little better...

Still have mine. It started fret on the back because of overzealous sanding and smooting. Had Glenn St Charles and Dick Latimer sign it and its a wall hanger and memento now.

I figured many would. I am playing with a idea for next years MOJam. I still have my first and I still take it our hunting at least once per season. Hope everyone is surviving the heat wave. 105 heat index today. no osage splitting today. keith
