Hardcore Archery in Hawaii
« on: April 14, 2012, 03:42:00 AM »
Just wanted to take the time to thank Ryan Steadman from Hardcore Archery. This guy is always willing to help!  Recently, he's supported two guys from the Beyond the Ridge project.  Here's Troy sporting his Hardcore hoodie at the local range.

Troy asked me to thank you too!  Hopefully he'll be joining TradGang soon!

Aloha & Mahalo,
Ryan Sanpei

John, here's a little history.

Fort Barrett

In November 23, 1934 the Kapolei military reservation was named after Brig. General John D. Barrette. Two 16-inch 50 caliber Mk. II MI naval guns named “Battery Hatch” commanded the leeward coastline below the Fort. The battery was also equipped with an antiaircraft battery consisting of four 3-inch M1917 AA guns in a square. The guns were transported to the fort on the plantation rail. The guns were proof fired in April 1936, but never saw combat.

Numerous building still stand around Fort Barrette: barracks, pill boxes, a spotting tower, plotting and switchboard post and a number of reinforced magazines, making a historic back-drop to our 3-D archery range.

Mahalo!!! Ryan Steadman. Love the hoodie. It's perfect for the chilly Hawaiian nights. I will definitely be putting this to good use. Thank you again for your generosity. I'm so glad to be apart of the traditional archer community.
Aloha,
  Troy   :archer:

Hey Ryan!
Shot often at Kapolei when on Oahu. Is the life sized elephant target still there? Remember the 'adventure' of retrieving arrows from it with the wasps in residence!! Aloha, Todd
