Acrylic vs Wool puffs

Are there any differences in makeing puffs out of Acrylic yarn vs Wool yarn?

I have been experimenting with both for about the last 6 mos. I shoot 4 different bows about equal amounts of time, and with puffs made with wool yarn on two and the other two being acrylic, I cannot tell any difference. I haven't had to replace any of them. I haven't gotten them wet so don't know about that. I suspicion the wool yarn might hold more water but dunno. What I do know about any puffs I've ever tried is that if they do get wet, expect a shower when the first shot takes place.
 They both look sharp!!

I use wool fleece(sheep skin) for string silencers and they repel water better than any other string silencers I've used. If they do get wet a pluck of the string will puff right back out.

I have had muskox wool on my hunting bow for 4 years, water proof, light, and silent.

Neat little trick a friend mentioned to me on a hog hunt back in February is to spray the wool puffs with scotch guard to waterproof them. Works great and was soo simple, not sure why I didn't think of it.

Can't beat real wool

Fisherman's brand wool yarn has the natural juices(lanolin)still in it. Wool fluffs out better than acrylic,imo.

I've used both over the years, and treated with scotchguard,and never noticed much difference if any.

My yarn puffs are made of 80% acrylic and 20% wool.

I am hard of hearing, but thick wool puffs seem much quieter to me, reason I bought a bunch of wool yarn. Acrylic seems to continue to compress after a while and gets deader.
