Mystery Ranch in West Michigan

wondering if anybody in western michigan has a Mystery Ranch NICE pack I could check out. Been looking at buying one, but would like to put my hands on one before I shell out the large $$$.

Chris, I have not been getting to your side of the state much, but I have a NICE frame with a Crew Cab and 6500 bag.  If you are coming to the MLA Spring Shoot the first w/e of May I can have it there or maybe meet up in Lansing.

I'll tell you this...

I ran a NICE frame with two bags for 3 years.  I had both a Crewcab and a NICE 6500.

I tried out a kifaru UL5200 and now I own one of them instead.  If the Silnylon bugs you, get a T2 (Timberline, same pack pretty much but in Cordura)

Which pack do you like better with, oh say, 80 Lbs in it?  I'm a Montana boy so I'm supposed to say how great MR stuff is.  My problem with the 6500 is that the stays are flexible cheap ass aluminum, and the take off point of the lift straps is too far back.

Oh, and do you have a T2 you could ship to Montana for say, all of this fall?   :D

I will say that for a bowhunter, the CrewCab will always stay in the pack arsenal.

There is no better backpack for use with setting up treestands.

Dan,  just got the 5200 but will test this weekend.  I need softener salt so it will be good timing for 80#.  It has the 26" stays, hanging meat bag, amd custom power pull hip belt so I am expecting good things.  After packing out 93# of Sitka Blacktail in a Badlands 2200 years ago, I decided I am not tough enough for junk packs...

The Crew Cab is uber versitile; great for getting four 5 gallon buckets back to a bait site. Turkey blinds and chairs here in the midwest is another strong suit.

I like to think of the Crewcab as a giant Flat Rate box.  Everytime I stuff a load in it I have "if it fits, it ships" running through my mind.  Then I say out loud, "as long as its under 50 Lbs"

Spring Bear just kicked off in Montana 2 days ago.  I actually use the Crewcab a ton for day trips (where packing a load of meat and/or hide might be a real contingency)  It's right at home carrying sammiches, knives, spotting scope and tripod, and enough clothes to handle all of what Montana can throw at you in the spring.  Plus, if you go to your local Army Navy and spend 20 bucks on webbing and a couple buckles, you can make a super badass chair out of it  :D
