wood spine recomendation needed.
« on: July 30, 2007, 07:36:00 PM »
I have a 51@27 Blackwidow MA2 (1999 FF limbs) Dyna97,  and it shoots 28" carbon express maxima 250's w/200gr points perfect  (28" PSE dominator 200's & 250gr points & 28" CX 200's (old) also w/ 250 gr points)

where would you guys start with a wood spine here???  I prefer not to have a arrow longer than 28.5" cause I don't want to see the tip.

thanks Ted

thanks for any info.. Ted

Shawn, It seems you are the arrow guru. What size GT shaft would you recommend for a BW PLV 50@28 drawing 27" I want a heavy shaft in weight.

I am not crazy about GTs but a 35/55 with 50 grain brass insert and 125 grain head would fly well for ya, cut to 28.5"s. Ya could also go with a Heritage 150 cut to 28.5"s with 100 grain brass insert and 125-150 grain head, ya may have to experiment a tad with point weight.

I think Shawn is nuts on with the woodie recommendation but I would start at 28.5" it's alot easier to cut 1/2" than to stretch that shaft 1/2" longer.

Shawn I would say is dead nuts on the shaft recommendation.  You add 10 pounds for fast flight and 3 pound per inch of arrow over 26" so that would put you for a 28" arrow at 67 pounds.  Good call Shawn!!
