Padded flemish string

All you string builders out there. Do I really need to pad a 12 strand D97 string for a bow that is built for a FF string?

Jury is out...but it's a quick and simple process, and can make it quieter (especially on a recurve), so why not?

No

But if its for a recurve it will help dampen noise by padding to 16 or 18.  Which is what i pad to.
The strings i make for my bows i dont pad more the 14 on recurve and 12 on longbows

Something else to consider...some bowyers will void the warranty if the loops aren't padded to a specific strand count.

I pad all my loops to 18 strands even though the lowest count string I personally use is a 12 strand string. I have made 8 strand strings but found they are much quieter and easier on the bow with at least 16 to 18 strands in the loop.
