Illegal to kill in many states.

The skins look much better on the snakes than they do on bows !

Its against the law to kill them here for the sole purpose of getting their skin but if they are a nusance its a difernt story but I really like how they look on bows and the critter also

Just to clarify my position on snake killin.

Road kill or flowerbed/garden copperheads only on bows.

I live with snakes that I never harm but if one gets flattened by a car I think any snake would prefer bow backing to being eaten by a turkey vulture on the road.

Copperheads around the house get killed. They are too numerous and well camo'ed for my wife's daily gardening. Fire away boys but that's the way it is.

Some of my local friends that are never harmed.

Nice of you to put in a climbing wall for that rascal!

Lost arra, I've skinned over 100 bows, and have never killed a snake myself to do it. I've had about twenty in many huge tanks I've built ovewr the years. I choose not to kill them, but to me every life is of equal worth. If I see a skin for sale, I'll buy it if its legal. The snake is dead either way, I will never let one go to waste, thats for sure.
My philosophy on animal lives being taken is, the animal does not want to die. Be it a deer, cow, spider or snake. Only we humans try to make ourselves feel better about the death by coming up with reasons its okay. We use all of the animal, it looked wounded, there are too many, etc.  All reasons for us as human beings to justify killing something.
But if you think about it, I'm pretty sure the critter being killed does not give a damn if you eat it, just use the skin, or both. Its dead and did not want to be.
You choose to kill copperheads near your home. Some guys would never do such a thing.  What is okay to you is not necessarily okay to the next guy and vice versa.
We all have to decide for ourselves, but respect anothers legal decision also if it differs from ours.
I love snakes, always have. Most of mine are snakes that have died at pet stores, breeders, roadkill, etc.  But I do not knock someone who legally kills a snake to skin a bow, to me its no different than killing a cow for meat.

This is one snake that keeps on giving. I have never seen a live one but it's interesting in how the pattern looks like it was done on a computer. I finally got around to taking a photo of a quiver that we made with it.

Old goat, now I have a pic and so it is so. Besides, what would an old goat know? Lol.

WOW I don't like snakes at all but have some skins to try putting on I bought. Those bull snake pictures are all really great especially on the osage.

Great idea's as usual. The bull crawling over your bow made me sick it freaked me out and then you were holding the live snake to boot?

I don't know about that.
