Easton Axis durability issues.....

folks..I apologize ahead of time if this has beeen touched on before.. But i am pretty hard on arrows especially when i am out stumpin.. does anyone have any suggestions or quick fixes to strengthen the end of these shafts up with out messing with spine too much? i know there is some handy people on here.. just thought id see what someone has come up with.. thanks and God bless.

I've footed them with 1 inch long aluminum sleeves made from aluminum arrows which stopped the ends from getting damaged or splaying. After some pretty hard use, however, they started breaking at the upper juncture where the the aluminum sleeves met the carbon. I think one of the sponsors sell something to help protect the ends of axis arrows, however, I can't remember where I saw them. I switched to fmj's which seem less prone to end damage so far. I never had a problem with them. I do put a Easton Broadhead Adapter on my field point. Maybe it helps.

I sleeve both ends of the shaft. 1" minimum on the front and 1/4" on the back end works great for me. Nocks will break before it splits the back end of the shaft. For me the extra 10 grs on the front and extra 2-3grs on the back doesn't affect my arrows in terms of spine. In addition, I tune with all added components. Let me know if you need pics.

I too use broadhead adaptor rings. Haven't had any issues. Are you using small game heads or field points when stumping?

Thanks guys, Rock, im just using a regular judo head on a screw in adapter. i will have to give the rings a try, never thought about an aluminum shaft

I have never footed mine, but I do agree that the rings help , I found some brass washers the same size and use those too, i put 2 or 3 on , they are really thin, but I think the softness of the brass takes out some of the impact, or at least disperses it.
