Snuffer Bloodtrails

I would like to see some pics of snuffer bloodtrails. I am thinking of trying this broadhead this year for deer and would like to see what they can do.

Circumstances didn't allow for pictures, but I helped a friend drag a large hog shot with a snuffer a couple months ago.  It was the craziest blood trail I've seen come out of a big hog.  He was pumping 3' out of each side.

Last year I used Woodsman broadheads and boy, oh boy, what bloodtrails I got! My buddy; who shoots more pounds than me, says he will never shot anything but Snuffers ever again!  He hunts in thick stuff and never has a problem finding his deer. If you have enough horsepower to get'em out the other side Snuffers WILL leave a bloodtrail that is second to none.  The only problem with them is they will eat-up a broadhead target quick!

Don't have pictures, but my buddy shoots snuffers (at about 58-60#s), they leave mega blood trails and I swear you can hit them in the hoof and it will kill them!  Well almost!      

Marginal hits become lethal QUICK!  never know when a buck will turn or jump string.

Sorry, I don't have pics of the blood trail, but I killed my first trad(Black Widow recurve) buck with a Delta three-blade Snuffer. The arrow entered behind his right shoulder and, because he was severely turned away in the front half of his body from broadside, my arrow exited at the base of his neck through his jugular. Complete pass-through. Best blood trail I've EVER seen! I thought I shot him too low, so I was gonna go back to the truck and get a bigger flash light as it was starting to get dark by the time I got out of my tree stand. No need for the extra flash light. I didn't even need a light! That blood trail was a solid, continuous stream of blood about an inch or two wide all the way to his body. I was astonished.

Well, here's a pic of the buck anyway. I took the pics the next day after I killed him. He hung out all night with ice in his chest cavity. You can see some of the dried blood that ran down his leg. I killed him back in '97:

Sorry, no pics either but Snuffers are legendary for good blood trails and doing their part...often even if you don't do yours quite so well.

The buck in my avatar fell to a snuffer.  I didn't take pics of the bloodtrail as we took a video as we followed it.  Only used about 2 minutes of film because it was only 40 yards and he was haulin'!  The arrow entered tight behind the shoulder and stopped at the far leg bone.  No pass through, but the snuffer kept workin' inside as he ran and he obviously was down in seconds.
On the flip side I made a liver hit on a doe but got a pass through resulting in good blood and an easy recovery, albeit about 250 yards.  My bad, but the bigger cutting capacity certainly helped me out. Totally agree with SuperK in that if you've got the horsepower, snuffers are the ticket on deer.  I use 125gr. with my 50lb longbow and 160's on my 55+ bows.

FWIW - I have been a dedicated Snuffer (160gr) user from the mid eighties.  They are responsible for hundreds of hogs meeting their maker, with a couple of Deer and Elk thrown in for good measure.  I mount them on 31 1/2" Easton 2419's and send them on their way with a 87# Big Horn recurve.  Their bloodtrail is second to none!

I have used Zwickeys, Bears, Bodkins,Wenzels, HH, Muzzy's and MA3's (still use them on my lighter bows).  If you have enough bow and arrow weight to push them out, then they will do their part.

I hope to have another one to follow the last week of May.  I am headed to Manitoba for a bear hunt and I will be shooting 625 grain GT Trads with 160 Snuffers on the nose out of a Silvertip that is about 60# at my draw.

Can't show you the blood trail but I will say I watched him go down. After all, a deer can spill a lot of blood with an 1.5" hole in him.

RC, what is your bow in those pictures? I know you are a mohawk guy...but that looks slightly more r/d than a mohawk. Nice looking bow that obviously packs a punch!

Good to know on the Snuffers.  So far, only Mr. Gobbler at 12 yards (first trad) to talk about for my field testing but planning on whitetails this fall.  
I have used Montecs with my training-wheels bow but this year it's all trad (7 years in the making)and Snuffers.  The Monte's were great for paint-bucket trails that were short.  Bagged 3 last fall and 60 yards was the longest trail and shot to down time was 10-15 seconds.  Hoping that Snuffers will show me the same.

Can you imagine RC after you, with a Snuffer on the end of his arrow? LOL...

I can sharpen knives, and two blade heads to surgical sharpness, but when it come to a three blade, my skills are lacking. It seems I can never get them "scary" sharp.

I simply MUST get som big Snuffers and try again...
