Bear T/D with Hex 6 chrono results
« on: May 16, 2012, 06:49:00 PM »
I just got  a set of Hex 6 limbs from Border Archery for my Bear T/D B riser. I did some chrono testing against two sets of Bear red tip limbs. All test were done at 28", 435 gr arrow, same shooter, same day, same chrono.

Hex 6 @ 48lb and red tips at 47lb... Hex 6 11fps faster

Hex 6 @48lb and red tips at 56lb... same speed

To me, the speed differences are significant.

That's incredible!

I don't know but I suspect the new ACS ILF's must be have similar performance to the Border Hex 6.

For us old timers who have beat their bodies to death that is really good news.

thanks Thumper-tx!  I've been wondering about those limbs.  Looks like a definite step above!

I have had the Hex-6's for about a month now and wanted to post a follow-up.  Border recommends very low brace heights and initially I did not shoot the Hex-6's below 7 1/4 to 7 3/8 because i just didnt think it would work for me, based on all the bows I have owned.

After a lot of playing around with various brace heights, I have settled in on an even 7" with these limbs on my Bear T/D riser. They remain quiet, smooth and no arm slap. [28" draw]

This also gave me a couple more FPS which put my 48lb Hex's slightly faster than my 56lb red tip Bear limbs.

So how fast did those arrows fly?

Can you tell me your arrow setup and string specs?
Are you shooting them on a Mag or Wood Riser?

Thanks!

Oldskoolarcher...

I am shooting a 8 strand D-10 string, 3555 Gold tip wood grain  shafts and 150 gr head on both sets of limbs.  Both sets of limbs were shot on a B wood riser, The red tip limbs are #1 for a 60" bow and the Hex 6's are #2 for a 62" bow.

That's great thanks for the results! What matters is that incremental increase with you pulling the string both times...........comparing my speed to yours over the internet is meaningless.

Bjorn,
I agree. That is why I dont post speeds. For speeds to be compared, you need a repeatable test like what Blacky does or same day, same shooter, same arrows, etc..... which is how I tried to compare the limbs.

Viron

Is your "B" riser one of the original wood risers or is it a later model?

My Border Bear TD limbs arrived last week.  I haven't even had a chance to mount them on a riser.  I've been thinking about using them with a Type I "A" riser...but may wait to pick up a mag riser.
