Easy way to remove nocks?
« on: August 01, 2007, 12:10:00 PM »
I need to adjust a couple of nocks due to the way I shoot. Do I just put the pliers to the nock and crush it then replace the nock or ???

If it's a glue on nock, It's not adjustable except during replacement. Just stick it in some boiling water for a few seconds, grab it with a pair of pliers and pop it off. A word of caution: The longer you leave it in the water the softer the nock will get. On a wood shaft, be careful not to crush the nock taper with the pliers.

If it's an insert nock, most carbon and some aluminum, just twist it. That is unless someone did you the favor of glueing it in!   :bigsmyl:

I use a sharp knife at the base of the nock and cut towards the rear of the arrow on the same angle as the taper. acouple of cuts and the nock will pop off. clean up the taper and put on new nock.

i just take a lighter to my classic nocks ..heat until it starts melting and then take pliers and twist off...typically, comes off in one peice and leaves the taper pretty clean.. i then  scrape the taper lightly with razor blade and glue on a new nock..

Like Dave said, shoot them off.  When you get consistent at 50 yards move to 75.  :bigsmyl:
