Maddog brace height question
« on: May 29, 2012, 05:36:00 PM »
I was reading over the Traditional Bowhunter's Handbook, a gift from my son, and wondered if I was checking my brace height correctly.  I use a bow square from the nock point to the back of the arrow shelf (7.25 inch) vs the deepest part of the handle (grip).  My arrows shoot find, Goldtip 5575, 225 gr at 30 inches, nock to insert,.  My Maddog is a beautiful 67 inch 47@28 longbow, osage/bamboo design.  Love it!  Just wanted to know how this sounds to some of the more experienced shooters, see I've been at it for only 6-7 months.  My poor old Mathews DXT hasn't seen day light in 2012 while the Maddog gets shot everyday after work, if only for a couple of rounds of three arrows.

What you have sounds right to me, but you should probably contact Mike at Maddog to get his thoughts.

I like about 7" or so on those, I adjust up or down depending on the arrow to dial it in.
