I can't help it, guys, I'm a reloader. Tweaking loads and testing results is what I do. Now that the arhery bug has pricked me that same fasination to "know what it will do" has crossed over to this sport with me. That said I just had to know the difference between the Martin Pioneer LB of 50 pounds and the Dad's old Herters recurve of 44 pounds. Using the same arrows, GT 35/55's, I shot them through the chrony at about 18".
Needless to say I was got to see that both bows were nearly identical in velocity. The LB had maybe 2-3 fps on the recurve over all at 174 fps than the recurve's 172fps on average. I knew from my study that the efficiency of limb design makes a big difference but for 6 lbs in draw weight to make no difference in arrow speed was an eye opener for me.
Thought I would share.
