I am a pretty hard core Hill style archer, but reaching back to earlier days, I decided I should have a recurve to fool around with too. Plus, my shoulder has healed a bit over the years and I can shoot a high wrist, which is really kind of new for me.
I buy a Black Widow, a 1996, just like the one I had in 1993 but grey, and using the knowledge I gleaned from GFA's book I figure I can shoot it....correctly.
Wow, all I can say is that it is smooth, fast, stable, and really easy to group arrows and bust nocks, without having nicely tuned arrows.
I can see why a lot of people are recurve shooters. I think the Hill style longbows are good shooters, maybe more versatile, but it's tough to match the ease of shooting a recurve that fits right. I have been pleased after 50 arrows of smiles.
I guess I have to become a more well rounded archer!
