I'm working here and was wondering of anyone out there has had any luck searching for hogs.

i never been there, but my cousin used to go there in the winter and hunt them with guns.
he got one that was 250 lbs. and won the big hog contest and got a free mount. i tried picking his brain about the place, but pretty much all i got was on the south side if you were lucky and it was open, i think that is the artillery range on the south side. i think i heard they had the hogs pretty well killed out of there now.   wish i could help better but thats all i know.

I heard that several years ago they went in with a copter and cleaned them out.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Like it or not, the MDC doesn't want hogs in the state.
Hmmmmm. I know you think you understand what you thought I said, but I'm
not sure that what you heard is what I actually meant!

Those hogs swim the river from the Ft to the woods on the other side of the river. So check that. I think it's either Daniel Boone or Davy Crockett Forest.

I know there is the Mark Twain national forest in that area. I did basic training there in 1983 and really have no desire to return. LOL

Hey dave, I checked into it a couple of years ago.
Got an uncle lives close. If you get an in with some of the folks living along the border some times they come into their gardens.
Hunting the fort got tough because guys with the radio, collar dogs came in to chase them.

I would like to hunt the hogs in Missouri too, but MDC has stated they discourage it since they started baiting them in .

I know a guy in a duck club in the general area.  Populations ebb and flow w/ pressure and rain.

Choppers, trappers, hunters dont matter they will be in the area from now on.  Head on down and give it a whirl, it aint Texas but it dont cost much either.

When I went there years ago I found sign of hogs but I also found locals that didn't want anyone else hunting them. It didn't matter what you planned on using to hunt them with, the locals wanted to keep them for their own personal hunting.

I was in a small gas station/general store and the folks there were telling me that there hadn't been any hogs in the area for years but had a bragging board up with quite a few hero pictures posted on it with some fairly recent dates written on them along with the name of the hunter and wt of the hog on them.

I haven't been back.

Dave , might want to check out Lake Wappapello. Haven't been there for a while but there was plenty of hog sign when the UBM did a squirrel hunt there.

Water was my first thought too. I'm going to give it another try this week.

Thanks Ron, I'll look into that to.
