Centaur Take-Down Owners
« on: June 17, 2012, 08:44:00 AM »
Happy Father's Day to all fellow Tradgangers!

Anyone out there own a Jim Neaves take-down Dark Matter?

My build date is coming up within the month, and I have to make final decision(s) on details.

Considering take-down option with snake skins on limbs with the Dark Matter riser, but already  own several take-downs.

Just curious if anyone has one yet, and if so, how does it shoot - is it quiet?

Wheter I go take-down or one piece, looking at 58" 57# bow that I plan to have Big Jim add a beavertail grip to.  It should be a smoker!

Thanks for the input!

Bob,
I have a take down but not a Dark Matter, I have had mine for about 4 years now.  Didn't know Jim was making take downs again, did you confirm this?  I have been after him for a while to get back into making them, hoping the Dark Matter material will help.  Hope he is, I would get on the list if so.
thanks
ALDO
By the way I do love mine.  Jim is a great guy to work with.

According to Jim, he will only do the take-down in the Dark Matter riser only.

I'm just curious if anyone out there currently has one, and what their experiences.

Bob, I heard from Jim and he explained the take down system he is using.  Good for him and you, glad he is back with a TD.  The system he is making is a good solid system, I had experience with this take down before, just not on the centaur.  This will give you the look and feel of a 1 piece and the convenience of the take down.  Good Luck with it. With Jim's workmanship you will be pleased.

Is Jim using the "Bow Bolt" or some other system?

The riser is cut down through the shelf where it meets the sight window and angled out the right side of the bow down about 4-5 inches on a RH bow.Its assembled with pins for allignment and allen bolts.Thiers some pics of the 2 piece Thunderhorn on thier website.A pictures worth a thousand words.I have had the 2 PC thunderhorn and its a great design IMO.
