So do you actually let your daughter shoot her bow or do you always have your hand wrapped around its grip?

WOW!! That is a work of art!!

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.

no Steve she is 15 and and very capable of doing things on her own. I just take it from her now and then when she's shooting poorly and prove it isn't the bow.LOL!!

You won't see my Vortex in the classifieds anytime soon!  Welcome to the club, Jedimaster.  (By the way, I think Golden Hawk has shot mine, too).

Why don't you send me your daughters bow till both of mine get here in April 2008?

LeRoy has not shot mine-that I know of-but if ever we run into each other he is more than welcome to!
Last year I got my Vortex and this spring I noticed a few cloudy spots in the glass, both above and below the fadeouts. Not big spots just something I noticed. Called Kevin who wanted some pics. Asked him what to do, thinking a little superglue even though you couldn't feel anything along the bevels.
His response was he hadn't seen anything like it before. His solution: I now have a brand new bow with the same specs.THAT is why I am a loyal RER addict. He is a gentleman as well as a h*** of a fine bowyer.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.

How does their Vortex compare performance wise to their take down recurve?  They are working on sending me a bow when they get it done.

I don't have a chronograph but the performance of the Vortex was more than I expected. It has to be close although I have not shot them side by side.

The Vortex has good performance! As you would expect though the recurves are faster. Both are great! No bad choices here.

well' I guess I'll chime in here and say "that's a sweet looking bow". I wish you MANY hours of pure pleasure with it. I know I LOVE my Vortex. I actually have 10 kills with mine. 1 bird and 9 whitetail. Mine is a HUNTING bow first, not quite as beautiful as some of the ones pictures on this site. My 'little black bow' (as you all know) is a 56"er and 46#s @ 28"s. I shoot GT Traditionals 35/55 cut 29"s with a 50 grain brass insert and 125 grain points and three 5" shield cut LW feathers, total arrow weight 450 grains. that is 9.78gpp and thru the chrono it averages 184fps. And' NO, LeRoy has never shot my Vortex. LOL  :archer:

Wow, 184fps! That's fast. My 53#@28" chrono'd with 620gr carbons(hunting arrows) at 160fps. I will be adjusting what I shot out of it. That was all I had when trying it out. I do like heavier arrows for hunting.

As far as I know he hasn't shot mine, just her pretty sister. But as they say, "it ain't over till the fat lady sings"! This is the first bow that I have not allowed any of my shooting buddies to invite home for a sleep-over. Ain't gonna happen any time soon either. Going out to do some shooting under the booger light tonight.

Jedi,

Beautiful bow!  I've got a 56" Vortex that I ordered last year that is a pleasure to shoot.  One question.....to your knowledge did Kevin do anything special to the Bocote on your limbs to get it to look like that?  Did he stain it darker or something?  Those are without a doubt the most striking bacote veneers that I have ever seen.  Thanks for any information that you may have.
