what would be a good scale for checking draw weight? I cant spend alot on one but we do need to check our bows. the spring loaded ones dont really impress me, are they accurate enuf? I am aware of the bathroom scale method, but am not real sure a bathroom scale is all that acurate either. Need to get to makin arrows. Thanks Scott

I have used one of the old spring scales for years. Draw five times using a marked arrow as a gauge and take the average. Never more than a couple pounds varience. Plenty accurate for arrow making IMO.

I have this one:
http://www.cabelas.com/product/Martin-Digital-Bow-Scale/1203763.uts?Ntk=AllProducts&searchPath=%2Fcatalog%2Fsearch.cmd%3Fform_state%3DsearchForm%26N%3D0%26fsch%3Dtrue%26Ntk%3DAllPr oducts%26Ntt%3Dscale%26x%3D0%26y%3D0%26WTz_l%3DHeader%253BSearch-All%2BProducts&Ntt=scale&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products
only $20 and has been spot on the money with every bow I've measured.

You can get a nice digital scale at just about any outdoor store that has a good archery dept. Cabelas, Bass Pro, Gander Mtn, etc., for under $50.00.

I have one of the Cabela's analog spring scales (not the one in the link above) and calibrated it against a couple of the better scales at local archery shops. It reads 3# low. I have found that to be true with a number of those types of scales. I would guess they are all made by the same company as they look similar.

I use a luggage scale that I picked up at Wal Mart on clearance for about $6.00. It's not the most heavy duty of scales but is made to weigh up to about 73# I believe. It seems to be pretty accurate.

Not sure I'd want a scale by Martin as their bows all seem heavier than marked.

I use the Walmart luggage scale. Very accurate and inexpensive too.

I know I'm really new at this but I used a fish scale from Wal Mart.Checked it and it seems to be within a pound or so.
