Like that Charlie - Hey I use stream and river banks - easy to find a spot when water is low - and very oftenn there is a sand bar which is an excellent back stop for target arrows.

Find an alternate practice site. That's all you can do.

Well I called a land owner 2 miles from me and gained permission to shoot on his land. I am going to put up a ladder stand in his yard to shoot out of.

One thing I always fond a little uncomfortable when tree stand hunting is as follows.
I typically hunt on the ground any more. But when I do get in a treestand, my feet are closer together than my typical stance. This seems to distract me a little when I draw. You may want to cut a peice of wood, cardboard, or carpet to stand on while shooting on the ground that is the same footprint as your stand. This way, you can develop a stance that is compatible with your tree stand(s).
You can make this part of your tree stand practice regimen.

Stand on a chair and shoot down a flight of stairs.
Yes I have done this, in the house, and it worked well. I must say however, Charlie lamb comes through again, I love that, and I believe charlie is onto something, and will try it tonight.
