Need help for a deer trip in Nov.
« on: July 11, 2012, 01:48:00 PM »
I have a post going about the Walk-In-Hunting-Areas in KS for whitetails. I Live in Ohio and will obviously be hunting deer here as well, but I have Oct. 30th - Nov. 15th off from work. I had a trip planned and it ended up falling through. I am now looking to go somewhere, but hunting public land is a must. I don't have enough money nor am I too concerned with killing a monster buck to spend money for an outfitter. No offense to outfitters, I just don't have the funds for one this year. What I am asking for is any suggestions on where to look into.....What state? Certain national forest? Anything that may lead me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Have you looked into Missouri? I think the gun season starts before Nov 15, but you get over the counter tags and i think you can hunt the whole state(not sure if that's correct)

Have you given any thought to the TG get together hunt right there in Ohio during that time frame?  I plan to attend and meet some of the folks from Ohio.

Arkansas's out of state license is about the same as Ohio's.  I only hunt public land here in Arkansas but our public land has many types of game.  Bear, deer, hog and various other stuff like varmits and small game.  Most of our public ground is bow only and i have only walked up on one other guy in the woods in the 13 years I have lived here.
