Where to buy Cedar Shafts
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:59:00 AM »
Hey All

I have searched this but dont find any real recent topics and I assume things like this change year to year.

So, can I get some recommendations for the best sponsors or vendors selling quality POC shafts.  I know the merits of Douglas Fir and Spruce but am exploring all my possibilities before pulling the trigger on a set of shafts.

Thanks

Rocky Mt. Specialties weighs and spines their shafts to close tolerances. I have been pleased with their cedars.

Kustom King, The Footed Shaft and others have Cedar. If you don't mind 23/64th Kustom King has those on sale (in bulk)

I get my tapered cedars from Wapiti Archery. I put a set together last week that only varied 2 grains and 2 pounds spine.

What companies are actually making Port Orford cedar shafts?
So far as I know it's Wapiti Archery and Rose City. If that is correct then all or most of the retail shops are getting their cedar shafts from those two manufacturers.
Of those two I have heard some negative comments on Rose City's products but never a bad word on Wapiti's shafts.
If a retail shop gets shafts from Rose City and is meticulous in sorting them then you could get good shafts. But a shop's got to make a living and can't really afford to cull a lot of what they get in their shipments so I wouldn't count on that.
I think I'd just go ahead and call Wapiti.

Suzanne St Charles is a 40+yr vet of making and selling POC shafts. NorthWest Archery search is worth the time. Highly recommend..
