Bitz problems

Hey guys and gals. I am having trouble with my Bitz fletching jig. I tried to put rh feathers on my Easton FMJ's using a right hand clamp (obviously lol) and tried to max out the helical. the feather's weren't touching on the front 1/3 and the back 1/3 of the arrow     Does anybody have any advice, or want to trade for a jig that will put as much helical as possible if you like the Bitz?

Once your arrow is in the jig and feather in clamp, set the back end first (no glue), making sure its flush.

The lay the clamp on the shaft and rotate until you achieve the most helical the shaft will allow. Small diameter shafts will not allow the max helical as a larger diameter shaft.

When the front of the feather starts to fall off the shaft, just back up the dial slightly. I fletched up Easton ACC's to 23/64 cedars and never had that problem.

The same information that Joe gave you.  I do it with an empty clamp when I set it up just so that I can see it better.

Just like they said above, you limited by shaft diameter as to how much helical you will get

I find that the smaller diameter shafts like Axis you can't put as much helical as you are talking about.A larger diameter shaft will look to have more helical because the diameter of the shaft is larger.But it is more then plenty of helical to stablize what ever you want to shoot.I put my feathers on to where they have good contact with the shaft.If you want to be more stable use 4 fletches instead of 3.Or you can use 5.5" feathers,it will look like is has more helical because they are longer.I have both a Bitz and Jo Jan and they both put on plenty of helical.Are your arrows tuned well before you start fletching?

I fletched up some extra helical by letting the ends of the feather float off the shaft then position them with my fingers. They looked cool but when I did some with the clamp set on the LW arrows and could not see any difference in performance and it was much easier. Still plenty of spin. And I knock fewer off on the target because there's less of a profile.

Too much helical slows the arrow unnecessarily. If your broadheads are flying poorly it is not fletch-it's usually spine and sometimes brace.

Yea the FMJ's are a pretty slim diameter arrow for sure. Sounds good, I will keep working at it I suppose.

I did the same as above on my Bitz. I put the arrow in the receiver, then an empty clamp to clear as much daylight as I could. Finally, I put a feather in the clamp and positioned it back on to clear out whatever other daylight I could.

Everything the rest said, plus this.  I always fit my clamp to my jig by filing on the clamp edge to get the best fit along the shaft.  Some clamps I've had to file quite a bit.  Just something else to try.

loose the daylight and call it good, there is more than enough helical to get'r done.don'y re-invent the wheel,use vwhat you have,it'll be fine.
