montana decoys??

Anybody use the montana whitetail decoy?If so which one buck or doe?Anybody using them while ground hunting??

I have a doe one, never fooled the deer, but got the better of me for a split second a few times.

I've killed blacktails using one during the rut.  I put some little foam antlers on it so it isn't intimidating to the bucks in the area. Usually they come in after a rattling sequence and circle behind the decoy, so I put the butt facing me about 15-20 yards away.  They do kinda freak sometimes when it disappears (it's actually pretty humerous to watch), so I angle the deke a little so they're in my shooting lane before it disappears on them.

There are a couple of older posts about this topic that I was reading the other day that are pretty informative.  The consensus seemed to be that the buck decoy worked better, but the doe could be converted to a small buck with clothespins attached to the head near the ears.  That is how I intend to use mine this year.

Stinger that's the way to do it.  I use "bulldog" clips to hole on some coroplast antlers and it works nicely.  Just make sure you don't make the horns too big so the real bucks aren't intimadated, keep them scent free as possible and maybe use a little rutting scents on the back end.

Doe's the one to get.

Yup - that's what I do with mine.  Usually stuff it into the brush so the profile is visible but it's difficult for the animal to circle it.  That's the kiss of death with this style of decoy, though.  The moment they start to circle it and it goes flat they stop dead in their tracks and go high alert.  

I've used it also in field corners, placed on a 45deg to the corner so that deer can see it from far away.  That gets the curious ones to come in and the angry ones in even faster - but it worked best with myself and a fellow hunter opposite me on the two sides of the corner.  That allowed either of us an opportunity if an animal decided to circle the decoy.  

For the carry weight and the various places and ways you can use it (I also like to make the doe "bedded" by folding the legs under) it's a lot of fun for not a lot of money IMO.
