The area around my cabin has been evacuated due to the ongoing forest fire in Upper MI.  The evacuation was mainly due to smoke but it's still way to close for comfort and got me a little freaked out.  I haven't gotten any more first hand info since Monday.

Anyone on the board living in the UP have any specifics as to where the fire has hit?    I'm a little east of Pine Stump Jct.

It could definily put a damper on this year's deer hunting.

Hey Mike - I'm not up there, but from what I see, it's about 15,000 acres around Newberry.I hope your cabin isn't in the path....

I certainly feel for anyone losing property or valuable timber, but this should bode well for NEXT years deer season.Just 1 year of brushy growth realy brings them in.

If the fire isn't immediatley around your cabin, and you still have some swamp to hunt, it may concentrate them this year...just trying to come up with a bright side.

I haven't heard of ANY property (home) damage yet.
