Ghillie Boonie Hats?
«

Will be purchasing one soon. Looking for input from those with experience with Rancho Safari ghillie boonie hats. What is difference between the boonie hood and the bowhunter boonie hood? Does the bowhunter provide better visibility for shooting a bow? I will be wearing with the Marc Anthony ghillie jacket which already has a hood but is attached to the jacket. The RS will allow the hat/hood to move with my head and not interfere with vision. Any help?
Thanks!

I haven't used the products you mentioned.
My gillies with hood drove me crazy. I cut the hood off and put it on one of my regular bowhunting fedoras. Easier head movement and vision.

I have the rancho safari hat and wear it all the time. I trimmed mine quite a bit for vision and clearance of the bowstring.
When I hunt in a treestand I wear normal camo with the ghillie hat.

I have the RS Guille Boonie hat and have used it the last two seasons without a problem. It's a little tite on my king size head but works just fine.I'm not sure which RS boonie hood I have but I use it with my Bonnie hat and RS long coat. RS makes a great product.

Thanks guys! Yes, I also plan to where the hat while in tree stand to break up the head shoulder outline.
It looks like the original boonie hood is jute & burlap while the bowhunter model is all cotton. Would appreciate any additional input from those who have used either or both. Thanks again!

I will be keeping an eye on this one. Especially if anyone can point me in the direction of a ghillie boonie hat for someone with an oversize head like mine!

I have the Boonie Hat, defintaly the way to go! It doesn't restrict your vision when you move your head, the attached hood will.

I use the "ultralight" version of Rancho Safari's product, that I acquired years ago. No jute or cordage, just lightweight camo cloth. I wear it with or without the suit. You need to shoot with it to tweak it so it is not in the way. I feel it works well to break up your shape.

Based on TBM tip of the week. For warm weather,I use an Australian Bush hat with side snaps. Purchased at Wal-Mart for $7.00.
