It's illegal in il to bait. But I have heard of guys screwing the lid of peanut butter into a tree then cutting the bottom of the jar off and screwing the jar onto the lid.

But I have used immigration vanilla before by pouring it on the leaves and bark. I stopped because I'm not sure if it's legal or not. Now If I use anything it's Fitzgeralds deer dander or Vanilla killa

depending on state laws, but try this.
Mix powdered Grape drink mix with Grape Jello and salt (2 parts ,2 parts, 1/2 part)
Mix heavy using only 50% of recommended water.
but in small pump sprayer.

Take to woods and coat leaves, grass or tree near set up.

Deer love the scent and taste of grape for some reason.
This makes a great corn coat also.
Can be added to feeders minus the jello and water.
If youre not sure you  have pigs or bear in area ,you soon will know.

Indeed, the price of deer feed/bait keeps going up and up. Corn will never come back down to the price it should be, and the other 3 of the big 4 (apples, sugar beets, and carrots) are following suit. It's almost becoming economical to grow food plots instead. Almost. Fertilizer and seed are on the rise aswell. There are many scent type food attractants that work well. Buck Jam and the like have done well for me. Another option that works great is to rent an acorn rake for a day, and visit neighbors, friends and family that have a 'problem' with too many acorns in their yard. They usually say take all you want and ask if you'll come back for more!  A days work under a few giant, heavily producing oaks, can yield a seasons worth of a deer's favorite food. About $16 will get you an acorn rake for 24 hrs around here.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.
