Hunting bear in Idaho
« on: September 10, 2012, 08:55:00 PM »
I have narrowed my outfitter search to Weitas Creek Outfitters. Idaho has a spring and fall season, any advise which month is most productive. Have heard nothing but great things on the outfitter. Thanks!

Ted Fry of Raptor Archery (a sponsor here) travels to Idaho for bear.  I believe he is guide and hunter and can prolly answer your questions.

Ted Fry guides for Weitas Creek in the spring, so you both are talking about the same outfit.  Ted will definitely do you right.

I have hunted with Gary out of both camps and been successful out of both.  Both camps have their own unique personalities.  As far as "which month is most productive" I would ask Gary as he is the only one that is always there.  Here is Gary's Facebook page for more info.

Like Rick said , both camps have a complete different personalities, spring is generally wet and cold, fall dry and hot, I personally like the fall as you can hunt other species as well, deer elk wolf and grouse but as far as which one is most productive?
Boy thats a tough call as things change from year to year.I have been working for and with Gary for about ten years and have seen lots of different seasons. Gary can be a bit hard to get a hold of but send them an email and Sue will ask Gary and get back with you . You will have a good hunt on some of the most beautiful country ,with a solid guy if you book with Gary
Spring tends to fill up fast so if thats your choice, best get on it.
Here is a bear I shot a couple of weeks ago , I had a day to play before clients came in.

Look at the melon on that old boy  :)

Nice bear!!!

I agree with Ted as far as my favorite time...  love hunting Grouse and catching cutthroat and fall weather is a bit more dependable.
